Type R into eg

I knew a guy with a type r in an ek hatch and he said he couldn't drive his car in the rain because the splash guard under the engine didn't fit on account of the engine being too big!? Would this also happen with an eg hatch? Also I'm wondering whether or not an eg with a type r is still driveable during the crappier days of the year without being uncontrollable and dangerous. Or is this hybrid combo just for the sunny summer days, with a beater in the winter? (trying to narrow down my choices for a swap) thanks

^^^ if u dont drive like an idoit, why would it be uncontrollable or dangerous?

Also, EK's (coupe) came with SIR motors which are B-series so why would it be too big?? and EG's came with SIR motors in Europe and Asia. A Type-R is still a b-series, it will fit the same as a SIR or GSR would.

I drive my H22 EG Hatch all year round NO problem.

H22 is bigger than B18C5

You just have to be careful.. In cold weather with cold tires, it doesn't take more than 4000 rpm and barely quarter throttle to start you spinning. Hell third gear @ 80km/hr on the highway and half throttle will start you spinning too.

I just go easy on the throttle and shift around 3K and it drives like any other civic.

yeah its hard to drive a hybrid in snow... especially if you dont have a LSD but with a typeR you dont have to worry about that problem

For some reason I thought that driving hybrid cars during the winter/rain was dangerous because of the power, but I guess its just how you drive. And the b18c5 should fit properly in the eg engine bay without having to get rid of the A/C or anything?

i still have everything in my EJ, the only thing i replaced was the dx rad, and went with a dual core aluminum rad because i was not sure if it would cool it down properly

okay so the splash guard is fine, but is there any other concerns about fitment such as a/c removal? Also I assume it doesn't matter which trim (si, cx, dx, etc) you use or does it? Just trying to get as many issues as possible out of the way now before I run into them the hard the way. thanks

AC and PS fit/work fine in the EG and the EK.

I have done many swaps that have retained both.

the splash guards shouldn't stop you from driving the car... i just had mine out today and i dont have any of the front splash guards or mud flaps...

in order to maintain your a/c you will need the proper bracket to use your old a/c compressor. My 95 ex/si's ac lines didn't fit into the b16 ac compressor. I believe its the ac bracket from a 93-97 del sol DOHC VTEC that is needed.
Power steering pump was fine though.

Any other heads up info from experience for swapping a b series into an eg? Like fitment, driveability, etc.?

a have a built b16 in my eg coupe and i drive it all year round. Its even lowered 1.7" w/tokico springs and illumina's and the only problem is with crappy all seasons on steelies the tires spin incredibly easy....even on dry pavement.
Are you converting your car to obd2 or just staying obd1 and using a chipped p28? If you use a chipped p28 you can get around having to wire in the knock sensor, that will prolly be broken during shipping.
B18CR is a good choice, with a good induction/header/exhaust system it will be a fun street car.
