Type R Header Vs. B16 Header

Type R Header Vs. B16 Header

is there any difference between the two (USDM) ?

imported_mugen_r 09-Mar-2006 05:35 PM

I belive they are a bit different but nothing to great extent.

but any b-series header will work on any b-series motor

imported_hdave 09-Mar-2006 05:54 PM

^ isnt the b18b different than the b16 and itr and gsr?

Gunmetalef 09-Mar-2006 05:57 PM

i dont think so?

imported_hdave 09-Mar-2006 06:04 PM

guess not i just thought that lol im prolly just crazy

so is there a difference between the 2 headers

do you mean oem exhaust manifolds? if so, i'm not 100% sure, but, i would say no. now if you are talking JDM, then that's a different story. from what i've seen all JDM B18C exhaust manifolds are 2.38" at the collector. JDM B18C-R has an oem 4-1 SS tubular header, but, it depends on which year the motor is. you'll have to get that answer from somebody else.

yes i know jdm is different but that not wat i need to know i need to know if the usdm type r exhaust manifold differs from the usdm b16 exhaust manifold

o.k....... well if you know that then, i'd say no. the only difference would be possibly the length of the secondary section that bolts up to the cat. other than that, i couldn't see the diameter of the ITR cast iron primaries to be any bigger than than the SI-R. the secondaries....maybe. if its an install issue, then you should be o.k. if its performance issue, please don't waste your money on an ITR exhasut manifold.

Also, wouldn't the R manifold hang lower on a b16 engine since the C5 has a taller deck height than the b16 deck height?

good point
