allow me to interject here... my good pal had a B20 turbo del Sol a few years back, and at 10-12 lbs of boost he was running on the stock bottom end, it was absolute insanity. it was AEM EMS tuned, passed emissions, ran quiet... serious threat!! it was much faster than my buddy's B16A turbo and had a more broarder usable powerband (the B16A also had stock internals so it was limited to like 6-7 lbs boost).

there are some things to keep in mind though, cost being the big one. secondly, you'll obviously need prem fuel, and the car will be thirsty (you'll most likely run 550 injectors). and never ever ever go for some crappy OEM intercooler. they are hard to mount and also hard to make charge pipes for. just get a proper FMIC, there are no space constraints since it sits in front of the rad support, hanging off the rebar. i dunno what your build consists of, but if you have good internals that will resist detonation and nice rods, good arp hardware, you should be alright to run 1 bar. prolly in the 280 hp range... maybe more. the track benefit will really be the midrange boost in tq.

I priced everything out, it was going to cost me $3500-$4000 with all new parts except a partially used BOV and WG.

My bike cost me $5000.. and can whip around the track faster than any civic out there.. I'm happy with my decision.

lol, but seriously Charles.. if you want to boost, look to spend atleast $3500 if you want a reliable set-up.
Correction...You did boost your civic...Then it blew up...I think I have pictures from the dyno.

Only boosted car I know to not make above stock power on the dyno.

Top tip: If your going to boost your car. Get the proper gaskets! Sealing FTW!

don't mean to thread jack BUT..
A LOT of good stuff is said about B20 turbo's, but how hard is it to source parts for a B20 motor build? (pistons, bearings, bolts, springs, retainers, valves, cams) I am going back to the drawing board twice a day here with my build plans, uugrh. I always space out at work about this.

its just as easy as getting parts for a b18a or b18b, the only difference is the pistons, you'll need 84mm (i'd go 84.50mm) while the b18a/b's need 81mm. The b20 rods/crank are the same as the b18a/b.

Actually, as I recall the last dyno pull before it blew up made 122whp.

I don't know any stock d16y8 that makes 120whp? Do you?

i was just messsing around. You can't really compare something that is built for the bike to a car that is meant for fuel economy.

sure the bikes faster but two questions come to mind for me when thinking bike.

1. I'm kinda tall to be racing a bike those guys are usually 5'6" or so I'm closer to 6'4".
and more important

2. Ever crash a civic? sure not a good thing but how about a bike?
