turbonator? ...come on
https://www.turbonator.com/index.html
has anybody seen this?? 35hp?? ya ok
please let me know if this has anymore effect than a CAI
ha, my d16y8 E-vtec already has the vortex "action' in it when theres only one valve open until vtec (somewhat) kicks in

"I purchased two Turbonators for my Chrysler Sebring and immediately noticed the increase in power. It was more than I expected. I am already noticing the improved gas mileage. I like them so much, I am ordering two more for my brothers. Now, it feels like my car has a turbo charger"
This is a testimonial on their site.
First off, why would you buy 2 of these for 1 car? If your engine is making more power, its using more gas. And besides even with a 35 hp increase its not going to feel like the car has a turbo.
This is a rip-off of the "tornado fuel saver". Any sort of swirling action this would cause in the air would be ruined by the throttle plate as it passed by it.
The turbonator is as hurtin' as the shermonator in american pie.

So why is it that when you add a turbo (more power) or up the compression and get some big cams (more power) you need add fuel? I know its more about changing its volumetric efficiency, but i stand behind my statement. If the engine is making more power it is using more gas, if you add more air you need to add more fuel.

totally agree..... more power...more gas...no matter what.....only way I could think of it....being better is tuning your ecu for fuel economy...but....I don't think anyone does that these days :P

and doing so would kind of be pushin the limits of safe operation. Honda does a pretty good job of tuning the ecu for maximum fuel efficiency while still maintaining decent amounts of power.

I found one of those "tornado's" in a car at work. I was told to take it out and keep it if i wanted. I didnt try it, but i did lend it to a buddy of mine. He said he did notice more gas milage, and a tiny bit of pep with it (maybe 1 hp). Nuthin like the stated 35% or anything.
All and all it was free so he didnt mind.

you're buddy felt 1hp gain? amazing. my uncle bought this for his car. i tried talking him out of it but he didn't listen and bought it for his lancer ralliart. he said he didn't feel **** and the car ate even more gas than usual.

you don't want the air to be swirling as it enters your intake plenum. infact, you don't want air swirling anywhere. you want the air to flow with velocity. have a look at an intake port on a champ car head. they have ridges to prevent swirling and increase air velocity.

I'll take 5, anyone doing a group buy?
As far as swirling is concerned, I understand the ridges (traps air and air travels faster over air) but wouldn't you want swirling in the bowls of the head and tulip area of the valves?? I 've been doing some studies on this with no real answers. It seems to me that each porter has their own opinion, and Mustang guys say "always leave the floors"

i never trust in those stuff... nothing comes cheap... and 35hp doesn't feel like turbocharged...
if 35 hp is turbocharged, 100hp is rocketcharged! haha
on a side note:
i think "more hp and better fuel mileage" can make sense in some prospective... suppose you gain 100hp and u're just increase another 1-2L per 100km... that's not a bad thing... coz some car can be gaining 100hp and increasing 5-10L per 100km.. so if the measurement in that statement is how much hp you're making for the amount of fuel required to use minimizes... its better fuel efficiency... just a 2cents, might be wrong...
