you can use a stock subaru BOV if you want, i know they have the BOV where you can or actually even the DSM one. you can run a hose from it to your airbox and have it recirculate so you here NADA!! very sleeper.

was gonna do that way back when i was first gonna boost but then decided nope!

dsm bov is quiet because it's recirculated

loud bov are vented to the atmosphere...vent a 1g and you will get noise

1g dsm bov's dont hold high boost too well (so ive heard). How quiet do you want your bov? as long as its vented like dinguss said.. it'll make noise

you'll have to re-circulate it into the intake

edit: you'll have to re-tune afterwards also to compensate for the extra air

the dsm BOV you can hear it. but you can recirculte it back into the charge pipe so you dont hear anything. itll just send the released air back into the charge pipe so you hear NADA.

but like chris posted above you will have to get something done so it dont mess nothing up as you will have extra air that was to be released but now isnt cause its gettint released back into the system.

you run the return into the intake pipe before the compressor of the turbo

jsut vent and make it easier for yourself you arent' runnign a maf that has already read the air coming in so what is the point just vent and dont' build tons of boost around cops.

1g bov's have gone into the 12's no problem

yes they can leak at like 20 psi or above on a big turbo pushing tons of air peopel "crush" them to help combat this

but most jsut upgrade to like tial or what not

You don't need to retune with a recirculated bov. The air is only recirculated when your off the gas after making boost. When you step on it again, the bov closes and your makin boost just like before, there's no difference. The only diff is when your racing or pushing it hard and shift fast, the air that was normally vented into the atmosphere has now been put back into the intake of the turbo and the engine doesn't go super rich when you get back on the throttle, and you don't get that huge puff of black smoke. Reciculated bov's can make you faster in the 1/4 mile cause the turbo doesn't have to rebuild boost as much, the bov just puts the air right back into the system. The air is mostly there, the turbo doesn't have to suck it all back in again...

External bov: No hose on it....just let it blow into the atmosphere...

Recirculating: Put a hose on it that goes from the bov to the air intake just before the turbo...

says who? So when your racing and let go off the throttle and shift.. the charged air just sucked back into your intake and you run lean.

In theory, the map sensor should compensate for the extra air by giving it a shot of fuel, but i've never bothered to research re-circ. bov's on hondas, so i wouldnt know.

Either way if your getting a re-circ. bov so that the cops dont know your turbo, just dont boost when they're close., the big 3" exhaust and cooler should give it away anyways..

Standalone systems give x amount of fuel for x amount of boost at x rpm, correct? So if you jab the throttle and suddenly build boost quicker, it'll see the boost and give the correct amount of fuel. Also say your off the gas and you have a blast of air back into the system from the recirculating bov....your off the throttle....sure you run a little lean.

But it's not enough to blow your motor. It's only for that instant the turbo is still blowing pushing air in while it's spooling down and the throttle plate is closed. Your not on the throttle, the engine isn't under load, it shouldn't be a problem. It should help build boost quicker when you get back on it, cause the air is right there, back in the system....I believe thats the main function of a recirculating bov......
