I think your looking at the ssautochrome kits, there old manis would crack, but now they have 2 or 3 new ones,
People will say ssautochrome=****, but i know two guys running these kits(on bseries motors) without problems,

or you can piece your own together.

shut the hell up.. did you just recommend an ssac kit?

dude dont buy that crappy kit.

To put a turbo on your car you will need atleast $2000 and that will be with half assed used parts or with a small turbo.

I didnt recommand anything...All i said is i know two buddies running the same kit without any problems....

U can search the net, and find some horror stories , and some people with good results.
Search.

i dunno

ur right i found good comments and bad comments...the bad ones are ppl saying stay away from ssautochrome..and the good ones are with ppl actully experiencing ssautochrome without any problems....

on a tight budget and a 1.5...i think im gonna do it

Chigga1 22-Apr-2006 01:43 AM

you know what - just research it

there is a post ive made that people have contributed to it..
just do some reading - cuz if u aint know what u are getting into and u spend this much amount of dollars -> expect to pay more.

imported_wajih1 22-Apr-2006 01:44 AM

i think i saw a greddy kit for about 1500 some where, will be definitely better than sschrome, but i guess the best route would be to build your own kit.

imported_eurojrak 22-Apr-2006 01:50 AM

ya i think i saw one too...but i think it was in us dollars

kwasley 22-Apr-2006 02:00 AM

im going to tell you what people tell me.

if you dont know alot about turbos dont put one on your car.
its gonna cost you alot more and when problems happen you wont be able to fix it...shop charges$$$$$
just do a swap for now.;

imported_2join performance 22-Apr-2006 02:05 AM

The greddy kits are rarely complete though, and their fuel managment sucks if its the fmu.
I don't know how willing you are to piece a kit yourself, but a decent quality homemade kit should cost in the $1500-$2000 range depending on the deals you strike.
Obviously on top of the price for the parts themselves you still need to add cost for tuning and labour, unless you have the means to do it yourself.
In the end it can cost you about $2500-$3000.

Mr. Death 22-Apr-2006 04:07 AM

I'd hold off awhile and wait till you find a used quality kit. Don't be fooled by the shiny manifold. You can crome s h i t but in the end it's still s h i t.

Chigga1 22-Apr-2006 11:22 AM

Greddy kits for civics usually dont come with Intercoolers

im still waiting for the reply from ssautochorme ..on what exaclty hte whole price is ..and parts are

im really considering it

plus engine swaps cuase problems too

some ppl have no problems with it..and the others..who know on what kind of engine they put the turbo on...plus mines a 1.5 once again so i think it should hold

well at least if u blow ur engine, u can pick another one up cheap.......

imported_eurojrak 22-Apr-2006 01:30 PM

lol

yup

but im gonne be running at around 5psi

so i dont think that blow my engine

imported_redlineracer 22-Apr-2006 01:50 PM

k, seeing that your budget is around $2000 and your knowledge on turbo's is questionable, i would wait and save up a bit more money to swap in a motor that will at least be a better platform for turbo IF you still wish to go through with it. This all depends on your goals tho, and the internals of the engine you have now, if it's high kms then i wouldn't go for it really, but then you say you only wanna run 5psi, i find that a waste IMHO. Drop in a b18b ls motor, the torque on that motor is a good place to start, i'm sure you will be MUCH happier. And if you still got ants in ur pants u can go ahead and build the engine up N/A or turbo........

hope this helps.....

imported_eurojrak 22-Apr-2006 04:05 PM

kool
thanks for the reply ....makes sense

ya but i think moto wont gimme same resutls as this turbo...and my motor can handle it..im gonna tune it up to more psi

plus i hear what ur saying about getting better engine and then build if i want to ..but thats more money...

i dunno...im still doin resrech on this turbo thing....let u guys know what happens

imported_eurojrak 22-Apr-2006 04:38 PM

anyone know of other ok turbo kits that are similar in price od ssautochromes ones

imported_t_dot_SiR 22-Apr-2006 05:01 PM

no turbo kits come cheap...

gather parts and custom one....

seriously, unless you have 3000-5000$, then grab a decent one...

check out honda.tech.com and look in the force induction section, they don't bull around, from there you'll find good info on turbos and you still need seroius $$$ for a serious turbo, the only diff is, you get more gain from turbo than n/a usually
