Tuning and valve adjustment. 1 step colder plugs.

Got my car tuned the other day. They advanced the timing and adjusted the distributor. Would i need to do a valve adjustment afterwards? Reason I ask is that at around 3000rpm I could hear some slight ticking and am afraid it might be my valves.

I'm running about 12.8:1 compression, should I go with 1 step colder plugs? If so which brand?

Thanks.

That "ticking" could very well be some spark knock or even detonation/pre-ignition due to the high C/R and now advanced timing.

run higer octane, and you might need more fuel. read your plugs thery will tell you if your knocking ( ie. too lean ) or not.

1 step colder for every 100 hp added is the rule of thumb.

otherwise you measure your EGTs (exh gas temps) and buy plugs that fall in that EGT range for self-cleaning temp.

self cleaning means the plugs will burn the carbon deposits off at that EGT in order to stay clean.

Sorry let me clearify, My car was dyno tuned at Tagracecraft, 14:1 A/F throughout. Running 94Octane. Mark recommended 1 step colder plugs think I'll give that a shot.

at 14:1 on 94 octance pump gas don't expect that motor to last very long! ;)

the goal is like 11.7 to 12 : 1
