Tuning

I am about to install some crane stage 2 cams, dual valve springs and titanium retainers into my b16. I have a cai, header, exhaust and chipped ecu. Tuning will be done with a VAFCII.
Who and where should i go to get my car dyno tuned?
Who's been tuning honda's for a while and has experience?
Who should i stay away from?
I want to get somebody who know's what they're doing unlike the shop who did the swap for me. I know there are people who shouldn't be trusted with my car and i know that i should be skeptical of some people. Thats why i am asking for your advice.

zeeman, i dont understand why your swap wasnt done correctly?

first off, he needed alot of parts, the motor came late, there was no shift linkage

second off, you wonder why you had problems is because you didnt even change the thermostat, timing belt, on a 10+ yr motor that sat in a warehouse in japan...

and I highly doubted its streetwyze's problem that your heater core leaked.

well A) the knock sensor is not hooked up. B) he didn't even know what parts he needed....proving he didn't know what he was doing. C) he didn't use the proper ecu, which i understand because he didn't wire the knock sensor so it threw a code. So he "chipped" my p28, incorrectly i might add. So i went back to get it fixed, but now i don't even know what ecu is in my car b/c the girl that gave him the ecu for my car took all markings off the ecu. D) The evap purge solenoid and crankcase breather tube were busted and he knew all along, but ghetto rigged it for a very temporary fix. E)do you really want me to continue exposing how crappy of a shop ur friend Steve has?!!!
Ok then, i will continue. He quoted me a price that i agreed to, then the parts took WAY longer than he said they would, so i suggested gettin my deposit back (which was $2500). Then he said that there was a 20% restocking fee which equals $600. Then he told me that it was going to cost quite a bit more then we agreed to. So finally when he got the parts 2 weeks later he started the install which took 8 DAYS!!!! Over a long weekend, i understand, but given he ordered the correct engine mount it would've been done in about 3-4 days. Then when i finally got my car back it overheated a few times and he couldn't even begin to guess why. And we discovered that the hanger bearing was shot, which he still 2 months later, has done nothing about. Then, there was coolant all over my intereior (heater core bonanza). And I am so sure that the heater core inlet and outlet magically squished theirselves. And my fan no longer operated correctly. So i replaced the heater core, thermoswitch which fixed the fan, timing belt and water pump, which fixed the disappearing coolant. So all in all i paid way too much money to make my car run worse then it did before the swap. But now its all good cause i worked out all the bugs by myself.

oh and i forgot to mention, Steve tried to give a p30 ecu to the guy who bought my old d16z6 stuff. I mean come on we busted him red handed trying to purposely give the guy the wrong ecu. Steve told me "oh i will get u a p28 so ur buddy can have it with the old engine stuff" and i still haven't got the ecu. He also told me that he would keep the A/C on my car, which he didn't. All he needed was a $70 bracket from Honda, but hey i guess that would cut into his profit too much. So does it sound like i should even be remotely satisfied with Streetwyze? Didn't think so. I know the guy who bought my old engine wasn't satisfied with Streetwyze and luckily he didn't even get anything done there, except for having his engine dropped while getting it put in his truck. I kick myself in the *** eveyday for not doing the install myself.
But now my "TUNING" thread turned into a "my bad experience with Streetwyze" thread and i apologize.
So does anyone else have an opinion who should tune my car?

its chipped because the stupid shop that did the swap didn't want to do the wiring properly so they chipped my ecu. I would have way rather used the virgin p30.

^^^ that's the great thing about the net... info gets around quickly, so ppl who run shops are forced to take more caution in doing their work. some of the shoddy work I've seen, 1/2 these places don't even deserve to stay open in the first place. I've seen your work (actually I seen the COW flatbed driving down Younge St next to Eaton Center Sunday morning with the SiR on the bed, and a cop doll on the motorcycle behind it) it was quite good! and your work is incredible, from attention to detail to part selection... real nice. Same with Altech's showcase car, that blue hatch. Places like that CAN do good work when they want to. Most places can't do this kinda work, and the rest of them just don't want to (partially cuz Civic owners are penny pinchers).

Anyways... moral of the story to anyone modding a car - pay to play or **** off... you try to get deals on labour, and your car will get crapped on.

why is having a chipped ecu and a vafc terrible? Would a VAFC be a waste of money? Would the tuner tune with another chip or something? I don't understand.
