Trouble releasing key
Sorry I dont know if this was the appropriate forum but I got a little problem
about 2 weeks out of no where I parked my car, and I went to shut it off, and the key would not release. I tried driving around a bit to see if it would just go away, but same problem. Then I drove it some more and they key released trouble free. It seems the car is not letting the key out so I dont think its a physical jam.
Now its become very frequent Id say 3/5 shut downs its doing it. I tried waiting longer once I stop to shift in park, waiting longer to take out the key and still no luck. The only thing I found that will release the key is shifting the car into D then back into park (which Im sure isnt healthy for the tranny) that usually on the first time but second time will release the key.
Any suggestions? I'm dreading the fact that Im probably going to have to take the car to the dealership

I don't know about civics. But I know it was a problem in older model automatic accords. I forgot what the part is exactly, but its got something to do with the shifter. If you change that part it should be okay. If only I could remember the name of the part.

It is likely a problem with the shift position sensor or wiring to it or the actual shifter being out of alignment. Do you have a check engine light on or a constand D4 light on? I would take it to the dealer....

I noticed today a small squeek before it would refuse to eject my key.
When I put the key in accessory mode the D light lights up, however I bleieve thats normal, shifting it to D then back to P usually does the trick.
I hate the dealer! Parts manager at Sisley honda is horrible, I talked to sisley personally, decent guy. Still wont go there despite the beautiful faciulies
