transmission tune up

I brought my 93 civic cx auto to get a tranny tune up at Canadian Tire. This package included flush and fill, pan gasket and filter. Now after the guy did his check etc.. he told me that since it's a complete unit they would have to actually take the whole unit apart to get it done which is unserviceable and not really needed in this case, thatonly a drain will be needed and that will be fine for this vehcile.

can someone confirm if this is true?

thanks

if its unserviceable then why do they sell the filter kit?

I've never done one on a honda AT.. but I've done many, many other imports.. and it was always serviceable. Someone here will know.
