I gotta get my tranny re-done... 1st to 2nd grinds kinda bad... it did when i bought it... i was wondering approximately how much it typically costs to get done.. and how long it takes?

sounds like you just need to replace the syncro...

thats what i think the problem is as well .... he's just wondering how much it is to fix that though?? the tranny needs to be taken apart to get in there... so how much would it cost??

its gonna cost me like 1300.
but thats not what ur asking.....
most places charge around 450 just to take it all out and put it back in.
and repair time with ur tranny on the bench is more. normally around 60-75 bucks an hour.
thats all just the labour.
so on top of that...the parts for ur tranny.
and that ****....i woudl advise u get the mechinchs to get OEM from honda.
also.....taking out the tranny is a BIG job. so while its out...
u shoudl do other things inside there...
ex: clutch work.
if u need a new clutch...if u wanan put a racing clutch
if u wanna put a lightened fly wheel.

holy crap, $1300 ?? i am not sure about manual tranny, but my frd got a brand new auto tranny installed for around that price !!

man, i suggest u to get a new tranny rather than wasting the time for the rebuild..... get an sir tranny or gsr or whatever with nicer gear ratio

SiR and gsr are both b series trannies.... and you cannot mix d series and b series....

also they are both hydraulic operated clutches.... while the crx has a cable clutch....

so basically if he was to get a "new" tranny it would have to be from a 91 or earlier.... which is hardly new

get a JDM zc tranny

mike, as dented said, get the zc tranny,
but you will also need axles/jackshaft..


I can get you a jap spec SI tranny for $200...then you need a clutch, I can Install it for you and give you 3month warantee on the work...I also have the energy suspension bushings I want to sell for the tranny.
