transmission question

transmission question

96 GSR, the oil in it has about 40k. problem is
1st and 3rd gear is kind of notcy but not grinding.
what's the problem? will Honda MTF change fix my problem?

there could be all kinds of things wrong with it.
easiest way to check is to empty the fluid and see if there are any metal shavings in it if there arent any put new Honda MTF or GM SYNCROMESH in it and add lucas transmission stabalizer in it aswell then give it a spin if its still messed up your tranny needs rebuilding.

You cannot fix the problem without overhauling the transmission. But you can mask the problem with some Honda ATF or even better gm syncromesh
