transmission oil change civic 2000 se manual
 

hey guys

I have a 2000 civic se , 168 k, I bought it when it had 145 k . I m not sure if they ever changed the tranny oil in this car. Car is manual , I m wondering if I change it now its too late. I know with automatic thats what most people say. I m not very sure whats the rule for manuals

what do you mean to late, its never to late to change a fluid in a car...unless its old and beat up to **** and the fluids that are in it are keeping the seals shut

change the fluid ASAP for peice of mind...manual I'd go oe honda or redline mt90

if you having any hard shiftings issues, try the gm synchromesh friction modified , might be threads on it here plenty on ht.

If I remember my old 98 Civics manual, the tranny fluid should be changed every 48,000ks. If I had an older vehicle, I would change ALL of the fluids just to be safe. Oil, tranny, coolent, brake/clutch.

Honda fluids as the bare minimum at least. I use Amsoil products, but eveyone has their own favourites.

I don't have a 98, but I do change my tranny fluid every year ( I know its overkill, but I don't care). Honda MTF works great. However, I'm with Dubassi. I only use amsoil products as well. I currently use Amsoil Syncromesh, and it works better than Honda MTF, but Honda MTF by no means is bad at all. I find Amsoil Syncromesh provides smoother shifts. However, since I have an 04 and you have a 98, results may differ. Anways, get that fluid changed ASAP.

Change over asap, and you'll never look back. For best results, change your motor oil, as well as the tranny fluid.
