Ok i recently installed a transmission which is a jdm b16 tranny. 1st and 2nd gear are how all b16 trannys come, 3rd, 4th , 5th are ridicliously long. Iam getting crappy numbers on the dyno even when we do pulls in 3rd. When i had a gsr tranny i put down 198 to wheels before cams gears and headers and intake manfold. Now with this tranny the most im making is 191whp. Should i scrap this tranny got for a type R LSD? This tranny is also messing up my track runs as well usually high 13s and i havnt touched a 13 since this tranny.

I always thought that a b16 tranny had shorter gear ratios then a gsr tranny. Do you know what the tranny mode number is. Mabey you got rippedoff and got a b18 tranny cause I know they go forever in third and fourth gear.

what other mods have you done besides the tranny? you installed the cam gears, header and im at the same time?

i was actually faster at the track by about .2 seconds with a gs tranny than with a gsr which has gearing very close to the type r. this was on my 93 gsr engine before it was boosted and a few bolt ons.

yeap, pulls in 4th gear were 170whp and in 3rd 190ish. i think the tranny is a b16 tranny maybe with 3, 4, 5 ls gears

it might be... where do your gears end at??? like 3rd, 4th and etc... what speed do they top out at? just post it up and compare to other ppls...

honestly dude, depending on the intake manifold, the cam gears and headers... you could of put crappy ones on that reduced your power. what motor are you running???

When im doing 120 on highway in 5th im sitting at 3400rpms.

i never got to max out the car in 5th i tired but i was doing well over 250kmh. top of 3rd gear is 170 km/h

yeah... that i think is ls gearing my friend... i know with my buddy's ek, he is running a b16 tranny and at 120 in 5th he is sitting juist over 4000...even my gsr in 5th@120 i am sitting almost at 4000 too... and 3rd tops out around 135-140 or so... 5th would top out around 230-240...

my 3rd tops out around 140-145 or so...

and ls tranny's gearing will let you hit up to 270km/hr before redlining i believe... you will never hit 250 with a b16 tranny... prob not even 240 depending on how high your car can rev...

also it could be a weird one too... my 3rd gear on my d-series for some reason topped out at almost 170km/hr... prob came from the same place in jdm land as my d-series one did.

yeap so i knew it i got a ****ty tranny with 2 sir gear and 3 ls gears.

definately not b16 gears...

im running the same tranny as you on a built gsr.

3rd pulls till bout 140-145
4th goes to about 180
5th goes to about well i dont know LOL 245 at 7600rpm

my cars redline is 8600

HEY if your boosting your car that tranny might actually be \cool
