tranny problem...

have a few questions.....any input is appreciated.

are the gears supposed to start grinding when the clutch needs replacement?

how bad does the tranny have to be for it not to be rebuildable?

what tranny can be put on a b18c that has lsd with nice accceleration?

if the gears are grinding its not your clutch its the tranny. If the clutch is going it will slip when you let it out. You can always rebuild a tranny, thats what new parts are for.
The only tranny that would be an upgrade for you would be the JDM ITR tranny, it has a LSD and a nice 4.785 final drive for some nice acceleration, that and really short gears, just like the b16.
You can get a b18c tranny with LSD, but they're kinda rare.

how much should i expect to pay for a clutch and flywheel install? how many hours labour does it usually take?

i heard that the engine has to be taken out for the clutch to be changed.... is this true, or is my mechanic trying to rip me off?

im 100% sure that the clutch needs replacement, but i wasnt too sure why i cant put the tranny in gear too easily any more. cause ive been driving with a bad clutch for about a month now....

u only have to take the tranny out to chane the clutch and flywheel.

and the only time u cant rebuild a tranny is when the case is broken
