Tranny-Input Bearing Price?

Have a problem with a grinding sound, during neutral and when accelerating. Anyways I got it checked out and was told it needed a new input bearing(think thats what it is). Is around $600 a good price, labour and parts?

Hey this may be the same prob that i have. Do hear hear the noise when you are releasing the clutch and pressing the the accelerater. and also when you are stopped and you press the clutch??? when you arent moving and you press the clutch or release the clutch do you hear a putter scratching as the clutch slws down? let me know what it sounds like please. Thanks

Well I got it checked out at AMMCO(spelling?) by Mark, quite a friendly guy.

Presision4: Yah..., thats exactly the same problem that I have, but when I press the clutch the noise goes away. They told me that if I don't replace the bearing soon my whole tranny could go and cost even more in repairs, so I'm doing it ASAP(there goes my money). Anyways, if you got what I got, you should baby your tranny till you can get it fixed.

For $600.. I can get you another tranny installed. I'm assuming you have a DX tranny.. If that's the case.. get an Si tranny installed and you'll be even happier.

are they beefier KS-R??
do the ratios vary by much??
straight swap w/o any incidentals??

sorry, just curious..

makes good sense to me if it's a straight swap and offers a better end result..

Yes, the Si tranny offers closer gear ratios.. You should be able to notice the difference right away. Straight swap.. so nothing to worry about.. With regards to "beefier" they're basically the same.

Well its not the clutch that needs to be replaced, its the tranny it self that needs to be fixed. The break down of the price is basically $395 labour, and then what ever parts that needs to be replaced.

KS-R
How much would an SI tranny cost me? I'm not sure that I would do a tranny swap now, cause by next year I plan to do an engine swap, and that would require me swaping the tranny..., right? Please correct me if I'm wrong?

Damn.. Doesn't it suck when labour is twice the price of the parts... Only if I can charge $14,000 labour for a $7000 ITR swap.. LOL.. that would be the bomb..

With regards to the tranny swap.. What swap were you thinking of doing? B series? H series? If you're staying with a Civic motor, then you don't have to change the tranny. Unless otherwise.. save your money now. HTH

Most likely I'll be going B-series.

Stupid question but..., could I swap a B-series trany on to a D-series motor? And I'm guessing that an SI tranny won't be able to work on a B-series motor right?

The trannies will only fit if they're within the same family... D series with D series.. and B series with B series.. no cross breeding here.
