tranny grinds...

Hi, just looking for some options...

I have a 2000 b16a2, with an sir tranny, short shifter linkage stage 3 clutchmaster...

I am experincing trouble switching at over 4k without a grind in 3rd and 4th..3rd being the worst, it shifts normally in low rpms...I am guessing the syncro's are going, just lookin for some options before I rip the tranny apart on the weekend

thanks

my guess is syncros as well....you should toss a LS 5th gear in there while its apart, you won't regret it on those long highway drives.

How much mileage does it have? Sounds odd that the syncros are already gone on a 99-00 tranny. Maybe it has been abused?

3rd gear was always a little jumpy when I got it..., 4th is recent..I like to jump on it from time to time on the weekend...but I don't beat it daily, I am pretty sure it was half in the bag when I got her :-( about 65k on the motor and tranny...

Do the gm syncromesh friction modified. It should take care of the grind at least for a little bit. With only 65k on it, it seems odd that the syncros are already gone.

I think the recommended interval for a tranny flush is 40-50k so if you havent done one yet, its overdue for it.
