tranny and engine swapping info

hi i have a 97 civic h/b tranny auto and d series engine question i have is im going to be putting a b series engine and 5 spd tranny in does if have to be the same type or can the engine be type r series and a gsr series or b 16 etc tranny. let me know thx.

if you are putting in a b series motor, you have to put a b-series tranny in, but all the b-series motors and trannies mate up...

what motor are you dropping in?

if you were puttingi a b16a2 in, you could put a b16(SiR) tranny, b18c1 (gsr) tranny, b18c5 (type-r) , b18b (LS) tranny, b16b (civic type-r tranny - good luck finding one)....

you see the picture?

but for example., you cant put a d-series tranny on a b motor or a b series tranny on an H motor etc.
