Tokico Springs & shocks and camber
 

Hi all

I drive a 2000 Honda Civic SE. Thinking of getting the car lowered, about 1 1/5 inchs.
I do about 800Km a week, 700km of that is highways driving.

I'm thinking of getting Tokico HP Springs & shocks from ebay(about $450 with shipping)
or Tokico Illumina Shocks & Springs (about $600 with shipping). Not to sure what onces to get. I want a nice and stiff suspension.
I'm looking at spending about $1000 for parts and labour. I've been doing some reading about camber kits, do I need front, back, both or none since its only a 1 1/2 inch drop.
I found some camber kits on ebay, Skunk2. Front and back are about 400 with shipping.
Should I just drop the car and find out if I need a camber kit or save on labour and get them?

go with the illumina's and springs (the advanced handling kit). Thats what i've got on my 95 coupe and its awesome....didn't need a camber kit either, when i got my alignment done everything was in spec.
The kit comes with everything (but the new rubber top spring mounts, which i suggest getting 4 new ones from honda, change them while its apart to assure no new squeaks or anything) and is very easy to install.
If you tackling this yourself, make sure to use lots of anti-seize when puttin everything back together.

I have been thinking of doing it myself. There anything I should look out for? I know it would be a lot easier with a spring compressor, anything else?

no it's real easy. spring compressor a must though... can be bought cheap at princess auto or just rent from canadian tire.
