Tokico Illuminas

What are your opinions on the Tokico Illuminas? These will be going along with Neuspeed Race springs, any inputs would be greatly appreciated it.

zeeman 09-May-2005 09:38 PM

i love my illumina's. Mine are paired with some tokico springs as well. They offer great handling with an almost stock like ride quality.
I'll let you drive my car at the next meet, that way you can get some first hand experience with them. But keep in mind i also have bigger sway bars and strut tower braces all around.
Whats the spring rate on the Neuspeed race springs?

I can't find the spring rates, I would rather let you take me for a spin in your car...your car is too tempting to let her rip.

ahhh, don't be a wuss. Its ok to give'er, thats what i built it for.
You can't really get a feel for it unless you are driving.

Illuminas w/ Eibach Pro-kit handling is great!

How would you guys say these shocks are for dialy driving plus a couple track days a year?

imported_SaYjAiBaO 09-May-2005 11:04 PM

i hear nothing but good things about these. i was going to get them but was cash strapped so opted for the koni rsk kit instead.

imported_JDMman 09-May-2005 11:07 PM

i also hear tons of good stuff about them... thats why im getting myself some for my eg in about a week or two.... not sure what sprints yet but leaning towards h&r sports

They are great! Especially if you match them up with some good springs and some beefier sway bars.

Gunmetalef 09-May-2005 11:41 PM

i love them.. mine are matched with H & R race springs .. they are very nice and stiff.. i was going to go with Koni Yellows even though its covered through warrenty rumour has it that the seals go quickly which is not something i want to deal with.. couldn't be happier with tokico... i don't regret buying it but i kinda wish that i bought Tein full adjustable coilover with adjustabel shocks ... but thats cool.. no biggy

Hmm, really, well it's for my jetta, and I have Eibach sportline springs, and I was thinking of koni yellows, but I don't know if I have the cash for that, so I may end up going with the tokicos, there adjustable too, so I can set it to my preference

i have illuminas with H&R sports and i absolutely love em. i have them set on 2 front, 3 rear and the ride is great plus it corners very nice. these can be found in the us much cheaper then here. mine were $412 for all four brand new with shipping to a friend in ohio. so if you know somebody in the us send me a pm and i'll let ya know the seller i got'em from (ebay)

i also found 3 front, 4 rear to be alittle stiff for rough roads and no difference in handling either.

Gunmetalef 10-May-2005 09:34 AM

i'm 4 in the front 5 in the rear.. awsome

Probably, LOL

My friend just installed Illuminas in his EK hatch w/ Eibach Sportlines and it rides great. The hardest setting is pretty stiff, while the softest is pretty soft. Good range of adjustabitlity for only 5 settings.

punkindrublic 10-May-2005 03:43 PM

i actually had the combo you want... its a decent ride, was a little low in the front which is why i eventually ditched the neuspeed race springs... but for handling and what not its good times... springs rates are 485 front and 395 rear...
