Tires Rubbing Too Wide or wHat?

Alright car in question is a 1994 Honda Civic 2DR EX.

The car is lowered but it was purchased like that. so the lowering height is unknown. But I can say this is SLAMMMMMMMMED.

Every time my buddy go's over a bump he can here the tires rubbing with the fender.

THe rims are BSA 17's with 205/40/17.

I understand that 1010tires calculator says its a no no because the overall diameter is like 18mm bigger than the stock 185/60/14

I told my buddy to get these rims/tire combo because I thought the stock for his car was 185/65/14.

Anyways does anyone know if it might be the width of the rim has anything to do with it. because I jacked up the car put it on stands and drove the car and turned wheel all the way to one side and no rubbing......

anyways thanks.

Posting for a lazy buddy.

easy, just stretch the tires and add camber if you can. dont know f you can. but if its 205 its probably an 8" wheel in which case

its rubbing b/c you have a soft suspension. so:

1. change the springs to a milder drop -- no more than 2".

2. or change to a stiffer shock, like a full coilover 10k at the front.

You might also want to check your wheel off-set. If they sit too far out...they will rub.

i had those exact same rims and tires and the rears always rubbed it was so annoying but my springs were shot..it was stock height.

Well heres my ride to maybe help. It was rubbing crazy before i modded my stock fenders to fit wide bsa wheels. I rolled the fenders to look stock and still can take 5-10mm+ wider offsets over these wheels. Right now its on 17s with +30 offset and dropped 2+ inches on tein s techs which are soft springs and tokiko blues. Its been said 35 offset is the lowest for 92-95s on 15s and 195 wide tires to not rub without modification. No rub in straight line for sure which is most important and even on aggressive cornering with 5 ppl in the car
