Tires

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about if the Hankook R-S2 Z212 tires are any good. I have read good things about them being Z-rated tires and all, but anyone have real-life experiences with these? Are they weorth buying?

I'm interested in purchasing these either locally (I don't know where to ask) or off tiretrends.com.

Let me know folks, thanks.

Will be upgrading from Goodyear Eagle GT II tires which are starting to crap out and are P195/50R15 up front and cheap *** Pacemarks at the back.

i just bought them in 205/50/15 two weeks ago and yes, they are very good. The handling on my lowered 1.6EL is very good and i find the hankooks grip even more so then my last tires, Toyo Proxes 4. having only driven 2000km on them its kind of a so-far so good review, but i think they are very good.

I can vouch for their wet too after these last few days and a few days of heavy rain driving back from NY but keep in mind the tread depth stock is 8.5 while most are 10 or 11/32nds. these are meant to compete with Falken Azeni RT-615's and Kumho MX's.

the tires are alittle loud but not bad at all just don't expect to get much more then 20-25,000km out of em with the 200 treadware rating. thats all i'm expecting, especially with my camber settings.

hope this helps, but whether they are worth the price i donno. i got mine in rochester, NY for $450cdn for all four mounted and balanced

Thanks for the review. Damn you got a good deal. Tiretrends sells it expensive and by the time I get all four Im looking at $510+ plus balancing.

Plus I'm gonna refinish my rims so all in all will cost me under $1000.

I'm looking to get these, just gotta find or get a deal on these, hopefully through TCC.

What about them Fuzion Zri tires? The same ones, Tiretrends sells for 90 bucks a tire compared to 125 bucks for the Hankooks, while most likely the hankooks are most likely wayy better.

hmmm...I need to make some money quicker somehow.

BTW: overkill, do you have any pics of those hankooks on your car? I want to see some tire pics if you can

Fuzion vs Hankook, ya gotta go Hankook Z212 its a max performance summer only tire. It will provide more grip then the Fuzions for aggressive summer handling/driving but will wear faster and ultimately probably won't handle the water as well, although i had no problems these last few days at all.

I'll grab some pics for ya tomorrow of the tires mounted on stock 15" steelies

The hankook gives amazing grip and off ramps are fun as hell, for $35 more a tire, i'd go Hankook...but my opinion is probably biased, hehe.

Are thos R-compound Hankook tires? If so then I agree they are quite good, my friend now runs those on his miata and the difference is like day and night!

Z212 are not R-comp's, thats the Z211. I run them at the track and they are very nice. They take a bit to come up to temp(mine are the hard compound) but once they are warm, they are very fun. I give Hankook a big
I run the Hercules Z5000 on the street, $440 tax in installed for 205/45/16's
and they are an awesome street tire!

Nice thanks for the nice informative responses guys. Me thinks I have found a tire I can set a goal to buy sometime later on. I need to save up some dough, hopefully my current tires don't blow up on me. The sidewalls are peeling my dad says.

Are these Hankook sidewalls strong?
