Smart man... toyo's are the best.

back on topic. I'd get the Yoko Es100's from all those tires you mentioned.

Kuhmo is crap, and Hankook is crap. I would not recommend any korean based tire brand. Go Japanese all the way.

Go to any professional tire shop, I guarantee you that they'll tell you to choose something like a Yokohama or toyo, over a kuhmo or hankook. Just remember one thing. You get what you pay for. For one, I wouldn't skimp on buying crappy tires. Just remember, the tires are probably the single most important thing on your car. Good tires can improve your braking, acceleration, and control of you car, keep that in mind.

Go to steelcase tires as someone mentioned before. They have really good prices there. Plus the CS at steelcase is great too.

proxes 4 are wicked. i have them in 205/40/17 and they stick like mad. i'd highly recommend over kumho, etc.

Falken Azenis are supposed to be great too. when my toyo's wear i think i'll try the Falken Azenis RT-615

oh yeah, forgot to add, a 200 treadware rating like that on those RT-615's will wear much, much faster then the 300 treadware rating of the toyo's. For longer wear maybe Yoko ES100 would be suited. Personally i'd rather have an awesome tire for 20,000Km then a mediocore tire for 30,000km.

I gotta agree with the TOYO/YOKO guys... KUMHO/HANKOOK/HERCULES = CRAP... buy some decent tires quality tires and u'll be much more happier, im hoping to get some PROXES 4's or ES100's this summer also... and just for the recored SILICA compound makes a difference.. =)

thats funny since 90% of solo 2 guys are on Kumho tires... hmmm

anyways I recommend talking to wheel and tire zone I'm sure they can recommend a good tire for the type of driving you do.

but are they on Kumho 711's or 712's?

Kumho MX may be a decent tire, supposed to be like (not as good but like) the BF Goodrich KD tires. There was a review in an older copy of super street and it did fairly well as a dry tire (for which its meant) but i think it did horrible in the wet (not meant for it anyways)

oh V8 hunter, what kind of driving do you usually do? that would help recommendations alot. if you just drive 140 on the 401 and don't corner like a mad man anything will do. if you love on-ramps at double or triple speed then it really narrows it down for what people will recommend.

That's because Kuhmo's are cheap, and they have decent performance. Do you think guys on SOLO 2 would dish out a crap load of money on tires every month or so. Why don't you compare the the price of a Toyo T1R vs. a Kuhmo 712. The Toyo cost way more than the Kuhmo.

Is the 712 better than the T1R?? I have no doubt in my mind that the T1R would out perform the 712.

Plus I've heard so many stories about buldges on the sidewalls of the Kuhmo's. The sidewall is the most important part of your tire (please don't make a stupid comment and say its the tread of the tire). The sidewall is what holds your tire together. If you ask me, crap sidewall = crap tire.
