tire size question

i have a 4dr 96...with blades...now my question is:

if i have 195/45/15 in the front and 205/45/15 in the back..is it ok?? safety wise...thread wear wise??

I heard of cars with different tire sizes for the front and back all the time. Especially cars such as RX7s, S2000s, Corvettes, etc. As you might noticed, they are all high end vehicles. In your case, the only difference in your size is the sidewall. So, I don't see why not. All you expects out there, correct me if I'm wrong...

Sorry, not the sidewall...I mean the width.

Wider fronts would be better.

i strongly suggest you dont get that tire size.. way too small
go for 195/55/15 or 205/50/15 all around

why do you suggest that hdave

He suggests that because you really want to match rim and tire diameter as closely as your stock total diameter as possible. This will keep your speedo readings as accurate as possible.

As for the other question, why would you put wider tires on the back over the front. Your rear wheels do nothing but get dragged around. All steering and pulling are done in the front of your car.

Finally the second number in tire dimensions is directly affected by the first number: ex. 205/50/16

205 = width of tire in mm (I believe)
50 = percentage of width creating the sidewall (height) of the tire
16 = diameter of middle of tire for mounting on rim

Basically a 205/45/15 tire is not only wider than a 195/45/15 tire, but it also carries a larger overall diameter.
