Tire Size?

im gettin 16" wheels on tuesday....i think they are 16x7 or 16x6.5, well which size tires should i get? will 205-45-16 be sufficient... i dont want extremely low profile tires, and i dont want stock lookin' sidewalled tires... and is 205 an ok width?

the 205 size of the tire has absolutely nothing to do with the side wall height.. maybe you should learn your tire measurements b4 you post

actually it does..
the side wall (as represented above) is 45% of the width of the tire..

you should be okay with that
i went from 185/65/15 to 215/45/17 but my rears are alomst kissing the fenders..rear camber kit would do me in unless i roll the edges..

y dont u tell him instead of being a smartasss:p

taken from one of bb's informative posts

"1st of all... tire size. Eg. 205/50/15V 205 is approximate width in mm, 50 is % of 205 that makes up the sidewall, and 15 is rim size, V is speed rating. If you go to a 195/50/15... that tire is both narrower AND shorter walled... so you have just effectively shortened your gear ratio, which means at 100 kms you will be turning your engine a little faster... and your speedo will be off about 3 % or so. There is a tire size calculator on the net somewhere... I'll post it later if I remember. "

ya i asked if 205 is ok WIDTH for a 6.5 to 7" wide rim..... and i wanted to know if 45 was a good looking profile..... well i already ordered them... i got 205/45/r16 Nitto Neo-Gen.

P.S. i already know what the #s mean... i just wanted to know if that size would work ok... you must have misunderstood

imported_gatherer 20-Dec-2003 09:20 PM

205 is a good width.... 45 might be a tad on the high side mounted on16 inch rims.... but it will get rid of the stock high side wall look
