185/70/14 is the correct size, but you can go with whatever size you want.

You may have trouble finding a 185/55/14, I found 185/60/14 on Bridgestone, but they only had Summer and Winter tires for that size, no all season.

Remember he's dealing with a limited width on that 14" rim...he may be able to squeeze 195 on there, but never will he get 205 on it.

This depends on the rim width and not the rim diamater. Sure you can fit a 205 on a 14" rim. As long as the rim is 5.5 in width, he should be fine.

That is why I said "that" 14" rim ... he is talking about a rim that he is currently running 185 wide tires, and I'm guessing those are stock. Even on a 5.5 it would be real tight. I wouldn't do 205 on anything smaller than 6. I run 205 on my 6.5 wide rims, and 225 on my 7 wide rims. My 225 tires state on them "DO NOT MOUNT ON 6.5 WIDE RIM."

ya, I had 205/50/15 on 5.5 steelie...had quite a bit of tire flex, simce 5.5 is the min width. I'd go 185 or 195 max.
