timing is off

alright i having some trouble with my timing on my 91 honda civic dx with mpfi. No matter how far i turn the distributer either way it stays pretty far away from the 3 timing marks that are really close together. Im just really confuzed and dont no what to do.

your distributor is most likely 180 degrees out, take the dizzy off and turn the spline 180 degrees and re-installl and you should be fine.

whats your idle rpm at when you check the timing? if its higher than what the manual recomends the marks will be off.

its at about 1000
what should it be at? and the car seems fine when im driving it.

800 for auto and 600 for manual ????
