Talking Timing Belts ( FUN WOW!!)

During a b16a swap in my Integra, i took the nessessary steps in making sure basic matinence would be looked after.

a new ; Head gasket kit
Water Pump
Timing belt & tentisoner
Plugs and wires.

Now anybody who fixes car will tell u that u will NEVER EVER be able to keep up with problems. I bought my B16A from JK auto parts. It came with a ONE START warranty. ( basicly when they have their money they don't know u at all). So the motor is in, runing great. I went to solo, and to the Drag strip.....
one month later my woman is driving around and the beast dies.
After a 150$ tow charge, the car is up in the air and i start my tests. 1st. spark- yes BUT a yellow colour insted of blue
2nd. Fuel- Yes lots of pressure!
3rd. Compression- NO!

So what has happened u ask?

My brand new timing belt has decided to ***k off ,now it's time to find out why. valve cover off, and the moter at TDC my intake cam has jumped roughly 180 degreese. Now everybody knows that Honda Motors are interferance heads Which means that if the belt brakes, valves will hit pistons and a rebuild is in order.
Well i got lucky, even though the belt was broken no internal engine damage took place. A compression test told me this once the new belt was on. I still needed to find out why the cam jumped so much. When i went to fire it up, the motor was cranking very slow and the timing still felt off so i removed my Distrubitor and at last i found my problem. Seised Solid!
The belt had streched so much it finaly let go! I hope 4 anyone elses sake, they never have the same problem with a distrubitor that retails for around 500$ and a new belt 80-100$.
This is just 2 let people know, No matter how well u take care of your car, the Bastards will still give u a hard time

Cheers and Good Luck

Usually swaps would cause troubles like that, check everything before you buy. They always have a record but they will never show. They always assumed that people don't know that all the engines in the shop had never been in a wreck. All the engines have all been crashed, if you know where it was hit it would be better. These cars has been hit so badly that the owner decided not to want the car anymore. Thus these shops will come in and buy the engine and sell them for swaps.

wow that's rough man how much did u pay for the motor? i had a similar problem with my swap but i got lucky, my friend popped my hood one day at work b/c he wanted to see it and I noticed that 3/4 of my belt was ripped, one more crank and it would of snapped no problem, thank god i noticed this and got it towed to replace the belt. I thank my friend and myself for leaving the timing belt cover off as it saved me from replacing the head

that's not bad, 16.2??? why so bad, you should be hitting high 14's. Does the guy with the zc have complete tranny, ecu, etc. My car ran like crap and it wasn't ready to run but i didi anyway and it ran crappy times, it should hit mid 15's next time i go hopefully.
Hopefully you get your car fixed and start hitting 14's

Unhappy why so slow!

Well in reply, VTEC is working properly and is on @ 4400rpm because it's a first gen B16a. I am haveing problems with my knock sensor. It seams to retard my timing far too much accuatuly
killing spark all together.

I think the reason my car is slow is because of weight!
2600lbs!

Man I wish i had an EG
