Timing belt info

I just got back from getting my car tuned-up at Image Honda, and I inquired about the timing belt being changed at 100000kms.
They told me that Honda Canada updated it to 160000kms as the recommended time for changing it. Any thoughts? Thx.Mike

Safes thing to do then is to have it inspected. If it's gone 100000km's and still looks good...why change it??

I didn't know that you could visually inspect it. I guess if it looks kinda ratty and worn, its time to go. Anyone with a 6th gen experience the same thing from a Honda dealer?

I have a 6th Gen and newmarket Honda recommend changing it at 100000 they also said I should change the water pump at the same time to avoid the extra labour cost...

I have been told the same... 100000 kms and change both water pump and timing belt at the same time, should run you about 350-400$. make sure that the water pump you get is brand new.. soem of them are rebuilt (basically used).

Just got off the phone with Honda Canada, and also called another dealer. They told me that the timing belt should be changed at 168000kms, OR at 100000kms if the car is driven under severe circumstances (severe weather temp +/-, heavy traffic, under load/towing). The weather in Canada is severe, and I drive in traffic, so I'll be getting it changed at 100000. Thx.Mike
