that is the service schedule for pre-1996 models. after 96 they started using different belts and the interval went up to 150 or 160k. call a dealership and they will tell you the details.

I've called two of the local dealrships and they said "168k for the timing belt and water pump."

That was for my '98.

I got a letter from Honda Canada last year stating that they changed it from 100k's to 168k's. I changed mine at 150 to be safe. The belt was still ok, but you could hear the bearings in the pump starting to go.

I would never wait more then 100,000 kms to do my T-belt, I dont give a sh,it what Honda says (remember they are out to make money here) why take the risk of the belt snapping and destroying your valve train if you dont need to?

becasue technology has improved significantly since the times of the "ef" and materials are better and designed to withstand more wear, up to 165k

If the car is brand new. Change it around 120.000km is very safe. Most of the cars don't even show signs of wears and cracks at 100.000km and they say the newer cars for Honda can last around 150.000km. I wouldn't risk or go too far. So 120.000km should be a good judgement.

Thats great. But I have a feeling honda knows a little more about this issue than you do, but thanks for clearing it up.
