Tie Rod Removal
ok, the search function is down, and I'm having some problems removing my tie rods. I got them popped off and everything, its just the lock nut that I'm having trouble removing so I can actually take off the outer tie rod from the inner. I tried wd40, and I tried a torch and so far nothing. And by the way I don't have a wrench that size so I'm using an adjustable one, but I think it would be better if I used the correct sized wrench, anyone know what size the lock nut is?

you need two 19 mm or 3/4.... one for the outer tie rod and one for the lock nut. take a deep breath and just give it all you got.. also shock them good with either you palm or a hammer.

put the tie rod back in the knuckle.. and adjustable wrench is fine, but I prefer the proper size, i think its a 22mm, but its been awhile since i did one on a honda.
Just heat it up a bunch and crack it. Make sure the nut spins on the rod and the rod doesn't spin with the nut.. (well i guess thats more for if your doing an alignment). Then the tie rod should spin off, count the turns and install with the same amount of turns. |
