Throttle body trouble
So the throttle position sensor went on my wife's car this week and apparently they are stamped into the throttle body so you have to buy the entire body. Here's my dilema, I talked with a parts guy and he said they've never sold one and figures it's just a fluke that it went. Well the throttle body is around $350 new so I'm wondering if I should look around for a used one. Any thoughts on whether I should go new or used or where I could look for some reliable used parts?

all you have to do is drill the rivet out that holds the TPS to the throttle body. I've done this before. But make sure when you put the new/other used TPS back on that you calibrate it. Which is basically just making sure that it reads .5V at closed throttle and 4.5V at wide open throttle. You can adjust the voltage reading by simply moving the tps side to side until it reads .5V when closed. You will however need a multimeter to probe the tps to find out the voltage. Or a vafc, if any of your buddy's have a vafc, unplug their tps and take you throttle body with the tps attached and plug it into their harness. This will make calibrating the tps much easier b/c the vafc has a voltage readout of the TPS. Then just simply adjust until the vafc reads .5V and tighten the screws (which you will need to source since your old TPS was riveted down, i've noticed that JDM throttle body's don't use rivets to hold the TPS down, but instead they use screws).....i've used this method as well and let me tell you that it makes things soooo easier.
