For those of you who drag ...

Does anyone use a stutterbox for launching? My buddy just put his in his modded talon and perfect launches everytime. I'm thinking of grabbing one before I hit cayuga.

That's what it does, but its called a studder box.... hence the stuttering once it holds the desired rpm.

Most of my DSM buddies have them for perfect 4500rpm launches, it wouldn't hurt to use one when I hit cayuga in 2 weeks.

Anyone run one here?

why wouldn't you?

so how does it know when to hold the throttle on at launch or hold it at full throttle?

On talon's it's another seperate ECU where you can adjust which rpm to hold it at when the car is off but cranked.... it's pretty ****in cool on awd cars, and I haven't heard of any civic guys using them.

Probably doesn't exist for civic ecu's.

Uberdata has full thorttle launch. Throw your AC switch on and hold your throttle all the way down. It'll rev and hold to whatever the RPM you set it to and will disengage at a certain car speed and whatnot.

Works perfect.

Most people here will probably recognize it as the MSD 2 or 3 step. Since it's more popular on Honda's to use the ignition control on an MSD ignition.

And in the WRC they're called launch control devices... who cares what it's called, we all know what he's talking about.

It's "stutter" by the way, not "studder".

I had my ecu in my old civic chipped by a friend and he added a launch control for about 5000rpm. It's a neat feature to have.
