Smile Thinking of removing AC

I MIGHT do this soon, the only thing holding me back is the fact I might regret it if it's a really hot summer.. and also one of the reasons I bought the EX was cuz it had AC... just wanted to know if anyone knows how much these systems would go for used. ( It's easily over $1000 brand new. ) It's in perfect working order right now.

I'll give you a $1.50 for it

Nawww, you should be able to get rid of it for $500-$600.00

You'll increase your HP a tiny lil bit, conserve a bit more gas, as well as add some room in your engine bay but other then that I can't really see the difference.

Regards,
OK

Does anyone here knoe someone who has bought a used AC before? How much did they spend?

Looks like I'll head over to RT soon and see how much Rick and the boys will charge me to rip it out.

haha
smoking cool? you from the stone age or something??? hehehe

as for the A/C, I Can't stand it w/o my AC!!! ITS SOOO HOT! If it doesn't affect your car in performance that much, I wouldn't bother taking it out, unless your really willing to sacrifice your comfort for that lil gain in speed. As for me, I plan on keeping my AC! Just think about it thorougly before ripping anything out. Hate for you to regret it later on! I've been in my friends car (similar to yours but dx) Boy is it fun in the summer....LOL! Back sweats sooo Much!! :working:

I guess you could always 'test the waters' first and just run around with now a/c belt on. You'll have no a/c but if you flake you can always put it back on easily.

Yes I have removed mine...don't miss it one bit.

If you 're thinking of getting rid of your A/C to make a little coin.. Don't bother.. I doubt you're going to get much for it..(at least from my experience)

As for ripping it out.. Just take it to any garage and get the system evacuated and then just rip it out yourself.. Nothing much to it.

IMO... I'd rather keep it. You never know about the Canadian weather.

How are you going to manage to evacuate the system properly? Releasing freon into the atmosphere is very illigal, and kills the ozone layer.

Don't kill yourself from frostbite either!

Thumbs down

I ripped mine out when i did the engine swap. I already regret it and we only had a couple of summer like days in TO. I would say keep it. It's not worth the little boost that u get. Oh and if u do it becareful of the freon thats dangerous.

Thanks for the input boys, but if I find a buyer for a decent price i'll yank it out. No point having it if i'm not going to use it.

Take it to a garage that does A/C work.. They'll have an A/C evacuation system that removes the refrigerant out. :working:
