IS there a code I need to look for on a tranny

Hi ,

I'm looking to pick up a used tranny for my car, its a 99 si. I found one and I wanted to make sure its actually a D16Y8 and not a Y7. Is there something I should look for on the tranny that identifies it. This tranny is out of a 2000 civic si.

Thanks

check that it has the last 4 digits b000
if its a000 you'll get the longer gears of a non-vtec (which is still ok)

also, try searching dseries.org

Is there a plate on the tranny or something, cause I went to the shop and looked around, couldn't find anything on it....maybe it was just dirty and covered up.
