TEIN's...

Anyone know if the TEIN springs are any good?

red90dx 15-Sep-2003 12:25 AM

teins are an awsome setup, but very PRICY..

you can make good combo's ie : groundcontrols & koni yellows or tokiko whites

imported_nautica_t 15-Sep-2003 08:52 AM

i want to get tien's full coilover's :D
but yeah, they are quite pricey....

bbarbulo 15-Sep-2003 09:52 AM

I have not heard of anyone using Tein springs, so, no we don't know :shrugs:

Nova_Dust 15-Sep-2003 10:03 AM

Get Tein's basic entry level suspension setup, if you want Tein product that is. That's what I would do.

imported_SW20 MR2 15-Sep-2003 11:03 AM

I've sold many sets of Tein springs in the past, and everyone has liked them so far.

Whiplash 15-Sep-2003 11:14 AM

i've heard good things about their full coil-overs, but the feedback on the springs alone hasn't been of the greatest caliber..

imported_BoOsTd 15-Sep-2003 12:32 PM

Ive heard from a few people that their coilover setups rust really quickly... Anyone else hear of that??

bbarbulo 15-Sep-2003 12:33 PM

that's an old problem that was resolved 2-3 years ago.

speedemon 15-Sep-2003 01:00 PM

no rust here nothing bad at all to say about there coilovers don't no about springs thou:D

Nova_Dust 15-Sep-2003 01:06 PM

If the full suspension kit is good, then the springs must be reliable too, no?

ryuujin 15-Sep-2003 01:22 PM

Tein coilovers by comparison to other setups are rather "bouncier" than the others :nods: That's the best word to describe them I suppose.

Minimum setup for a Tein coilover would probably be the HR series. Anything below that, I think you're best off purchasing Koni's IMO :p

bbarbulo 15-Sep-2003 01:26 PM

no one has mentioned that it's not the spring alone that determines ride quality and performance. shocks have a lot do with it. Nice soft springs (little stiffer than stock) with very high quality dampners are the best combo in the world... and then tune body roll by way of sway bars. weight transfer is a good thing!

dingus8 15-Sep-2003 04:32 PM

^^exactly the highest springs rate and drop isnt' always the best thing....and yes shocks etermien the ride alot aswell....I bet the tein springs have a fairly high spring rate probobly similar to the h&r sport's I bet.....get some nice adjustable shocks to go with them and they will be very good I'd imagine....and remember soemthign liek a prokit with perfectly matched dampening will out perform a "race" spring with a poorly dampened shock......

bbarbulo 15-Sep-2003 04:42 PM

YES, I have Pro Kit and KYB on my Saturn and it's quite nice. I have H&R coilovers on the Civic and that's also very nice... given the price differences, I'd have a hard time deciding on which is better value for the money for me, but I also appreciate the art of susp tuning. Most ppl would never notice the diff, and would likely opt for the cheaper setup.

Yes, and I love it... the stance is just right, and after 3 years it's settled nicely
