tein coilovers
 

I have put some tein coilovers on - basic ones-

I put them on but one side was higher then the other so I had to adjusted to be even- the actual coilover is like 10 mm different.
Is that normal
Also the springs are set pretty high and yet the car still sits very low- I have a body kit on and if I hit a bump on the highway at higher speed then when the car comes down it rubs the bottom - is that normal- ?
is the only way to fix the problem is to get stiffer springs?

Softer springs will let the car travel more vertically. So stiffer springs will make your car does less of that, firmer if you like to call it. But you need to know if your shock body is designed to handle that spring rate.

I am running high spring rates on the street but the shock is designed for it, therefore, there is no harsh clunking sound over the bumpers but rather, the whole car just goes up and down. That's what a firm spring will do to your car.

the car does go up as one - not like the wheels are bouncing in different directions

just it does sag under a little weight - If there is 3 people in the car the car drops -

it also sags at 120 on the highway- it just drops by like an inch -

the problem is cornering and bumps- makes my skirts touch the pavement.

What is the spring rate?

7 kg or 390 lbs on the front and 3 or 170 on the back

I am running 16kg in the front and 14kg in the back. Yours are still soft.

well i guess i need something like yours then- at least double the spring rate-

do you know what is the stock civic spring rate

so if I change the springs to stiffer ones I can get a stiffer ride- DO I WANT THAT- performance wise-

I am not sure if you have riden in a car with blown shock, or a stock shock that is lowered that has very limited shock travel and always hits the bump stop. It rides like sh!t because that is like no dampening at all.

Now, if the shock body is large enough to pair up with the stiff springs, it does not feel painful. Yes the car bounces less, but the shock still has dampening effect.

Whether you want it or not, it is up to you really. I have no choice because my suspension is a direct replacement of OEM and they were made that way. But like I said, my ride feels great. Occasionally, I fly up and hit the sunroof because the road depresses, not pot hole, but the uneven road makes me fly up physically. Like a rollercoaster ride. I love it.

But cornering on the track is amazing.

Call up TEIN and ask them what is the highest spring rate the basic damper can handle. If 7/3 is the highest, then you are out of luck unless you upgrade the shocks as well.

Stock Civic is like 3/2, or even lower. CTR is 4/3 I think. One thing you could try to do is up the rear spring rate to 5. Usually, 2 kg difference is ideal. Some car uses the same spring rates, but in this case, a Civic, I think 7/5 might be better.

Then there is the driving style, what you use the car for, under/oversteers and that whole 9 yard.
