Tech people. I need help!

I have completed a motor swap but now my car is running like a bag of A$$... the motor is a D16A vtec ( JDM 1995 integra 1600cc) the CDM version is a D16Z6 (same water pump timming belt, gaskets and so on) and the ecu is a virgin p28. The code Im getting is 21 disconnected VTEC silenoid.

My question is that when I connect the Vtec will the car run better? it run really bad until 4000 RPM after this point is start to pull.

the other problem has been fixed the above is a new one.

imported_BoostedEh2 27-Aug-2007 02:16 AM

since when did integras come with single slammers

imported_Midori 27-Aug-2007 02:49 AM

only in J land... look it up D16A vtec. i even have a DC motor mount on the thing.

imported_Midori 27-Aug-2007 11:58 PM

ok the vtec is hooked up. the code went away but it still runs horribly.

imported_BoostedEh2 28-Aug-2007 12:08 AM

Cynikal.Mindset 28-Aug-2007 12:23 AM

yes they did homie!

imported_Midori 28-Aug-2007 12:28 AM

this is so besides the point... how do i fix the timming? do I have to have the computer relearn the timming because I change the belt?

Cynikal.Mindset 28-Aug-2007 12:29 AM

comes out of the ZXi Integra

Cynikal.Mindset 28-Aug-2007 12:30 AM

well u need a timing gun to make sure u installed the belt correctly and so u can set the base timing

imported_Midori 28-Aug-2007 02:19 AM

ok Ill do the gun thing tommrow I beleive I have some friend that have timming guns. I guess i will be learning something tommrow.

Ignition timing and cam timing are completely different. If you didn't touch the distributor your ignition timing was not altered. But sometimes engines come fuct, so its not a bad idea.

Mabye your cam timing is off (need to pull the valve cover and timing cover to check)

If you want I can help ya out.. but im in oakville. Usually driveability issues from swaps are either from ign. timing, wrong ecu or cam timing is off.

the wrong ecu and bad ignition timing definately caused poor performance after my swap

imported_Midori 29-Aug-2007 01:30 AM

well I advanced the ignition timming by moving the distributor toward the fire wall. It works a little better but it still run bad. from what I understand a P71 is the correct ECU but the motor is identical to a D16Z6 so a p28 should be fine. Im betting it the Cam timming.

Currently it is setup so that the UP is straight up and the two side marks are level with the rocker cover. In the online helms manual it shows the cam on a slight angle / not --.

could I simply slip the belt off of the cam, spin the cam and put the belt back on?

Ugg I think I m going to a shop tommorow.
