tech guys
i have a 99' D16Y7 i want to swap into my 90 EF, engine, dizzy intake manifold, no ecu, no harness. The tranny that came with the motor is a hydraulic tranny, will this work with my civic? My tranny release bearing is shot so it would need to be replaced.
NEway, im looking for someone who can install this asap as the car is my transportation to and from work and it is sitting now. anyone know where and maybe some prices??? |
it's not impossible, but would require a lil extra work as opposed to a plug and play install. your stock tranny will need to be fixed and reused cuz swapping a hydro in there is extra $$$. just call around to our affiliate shops and get some prices worked out.

well you will need to find re-use your obd0 injectors, dizzy and alternator, and you're cable tranny, and have fun finding an obd0 ecu that will run a d16y7 well.
Either that or convert to obd1 so you can use an obd1 chipped ecu and obd1 or obd2 dizzy. Like bruno said, its a do-able swap, but if you're paying someone to do it, it'll prolly be a little more than a straight forward swap. |
why not just replace the bearing if thats the problem?

I would hope not...but you'd be suprised

thats not the reason im swaping... I have a D16Y8 in right now,(should already be wired, how good, im not sure) the reason for swaping is that, whoever put the engine in used an 88-91 dizzy and 88 intake manifold, the v-tech solenoid is missing, plus i dont know how many clicks are on it. The imput shaft bearing is the culprit as i learned today, and to fix that the engine and tranny will have to come out anyway. i just need a reliable car.

if the vtec solenoid is missing it'd be pissin oil everywhere.
If there is no vtec solenoid its not likely its a d16y8. |
if your throwing away the tranny.. i'll take it.
