tape weights

does anyone have success using tape weights to balance your wheels? i've had the worst luck with them and now i'm using those ugly lead weights that you stick on the lip of the rims but at least i got rid of the shakes.

Never a problem. If your alignment is good and wear is even tape weights will work fine. Also fine a reputable shop for balance.

Stick on weights are for rims, and the ones you stick on the lip are for steelies. Stick on weights were designed so that you don't ruin the lip on your nice rims. So I guess it depends on your application. If your running stock rims, or steelies stick with normal type weights.

If you have aftermarket rims, go with stick on weights. Some rims won't allow you to use regular weights, because there is no lip to put them on (For example, 04/05 SI rims). So in this case, you have to use stick on weights. I've never had a problem with stick on weights. As long as the person who installs them cleans the area properly before sticking them on, they should be fine. The person balancing the rim also needs to pick the right setting on the balancer, otherwise the balancing could be off.
