I'm looking to purchase a Suspension Technique's kit. They have two kits available.

#1 24mm front 19mm rear

#2 19mm front 19mm rear


Kit number #1 is meant for Civics that have a front sway bar already. Kit #2 is meant for Civics without the front sway bar (like mine.)

Correct me if I'm wrong, the only difference between Civics with and without the front sway bar is the front lower control arms. I didn't even think you could mount a front sway bar without a LCA swap. But I anyhow I digress.

I now have a pair of SIR front LCA's, could I order the #1 kit and have it work?

Also where would I find bushings for this LCA? I went to Honda and they only sell the LCA complete with the bushings; not seperate.

make sure you have endlinks too, but i believe with SIR lower control arms your good to go. someone will verify this though.

but why go ST kit, its pricey, i'd buy OEM ITR bars, rear is 22mm and front is 24 or 26 i beleive, not sure. But OEM is a hell of alot cheaper.

you'll also need a rear subframe reinforcement kit unless the suspension techniques kit includes this, Beaks and ASR (A-spec-racing) make great kits, ASR would be my choice if the cash is available.

ebay has energy suspension bushings, you could always buy the LCA bushings there, i think its $20usd or $29usd and energy suspension themselves are on ebay too.

nice choice though, by 19's are alittle smaller compared to OEM ITR too. i'd go #1 if your sticking to those two.

As far as I know. ITR bars wont fit an EK.

I went to the Honda dealership up here in Hamilton and went through the process of getting a quote for the pieces needed (minus the the LCA's) for putting an SIR fron sway onto my EK. I was quoted get this; 400 dollars not including tax. So in my mind, the ST's are cheaper because their front and back and supposed to be complete. However, if someone can prove OEM is cheaper, I might reconsider the ST kit.

Do you think at 19mm I will need subframe reinforcement for the rear? I thought the SIR rear bar was 19mm as well, so I don't think there will be tear outs...Or could there be?

ITR do fit atleast the rear 100% for sure.

don't go through the dealer, plenty of people are selling used CTR or ITR bars in the classifieds, I picked up a 22mm CTR rear bar with Beaks kit for $170 in mint shape.

You definately want a subframe reinforcement kit, the EK has thin ass subframes. ITR is 22/23mm (JDM is 23m) and I believe the ITR did come with 19mm as well for older ones (before 1999) but i'm not 100% sure on this.

Without a subframe kit a tearout is possible and you will pay out the ass to fix a tearout. Beaks kit is cheap but simple, ASR is expensive but extreme reinforcement.

If you price anything new from dealer you'll be raped. case in point, four brand new bump stops and rubber mounts for top hats...$120! check these forums, Clubel.ca, Torontointegras.com and you will see used rear sway bars or both.

or go for the ST if ya want, but you still need subframe reinforcement kit or you really are asking for trouble.

someone else will confirm ITR front fits or not, but rear definately does, also I thought SIR was only 13mm but I could easily be wrong on that.

94-01 non itr integras came with 14mm rear bar
del sols came with 15mm rear bar
EK civics that had sway bars came in 13mm.
usdm itr came with 22mm rear bar
ctr came with 22mm rear bar
JDM itr came with 23mm rear bar

i don't think hondas came with 19mm rear bar. i think you're thinking about the 7th gen. i'm not sure on their sizes but they are bigger than previous gens. go with the itr bar, i know a couple of people with 22mm rear sway bars on their EK hatchbacks. i think it's just an endlink difference.

i'm using stock endlinks from my EL for my 22mm CTR sway, stock on the 1.6EL was 13mm.

I thought Bbarbulo had a 19mm rear sway, i never fully understood where the 19 came from if there is a Honda one, 22mm is fun though.

why get a front sway bar at all ? :P

anyways I'd recommend going with the the one made for your car. this is because the kit will come with everything you need to attach them to the lower control arms without getting new lower control arms.

for my car the rear bar attaches to the shock lower mounting hole on the LCA.

I run SiR front and CTR rear. Endlinks were bought new from Honda (SiR rear endlinks will fit with CTR bar) and my CTR bar was brand new for 155 picked up.

I use Energy Suspension front LCA bushing kit, burn out the old ones and push in the new ones, by either using grip, or step on it (it worked, you just need a good balance).

Whatever you do, don't go on a slope on an angle. People do that to avoid scrapping their front lip but that's where the damage is done on the subframe.
