Sway Bars

In my 1993 hatch I am putting on a 2001 Gsr rear sway bar, yes I know I will have to change my rear hubs + brakes I will do that. But the front sway bar, would an si sway bar do much? Could I put on an integra one or just go aftermarket? The only thing is I am not made of money.
Thanks for your input.

you don't need to change the hubs and brakes, just the lower control arms

make sure to at least get new endlink bushings....but preferably polyurethane bushings. New bushings make a big difference compared to old worn ones. Good choice on puttin on some sway bars they make a huge difference in handling.

the SiR rear sway bar is only 1mm smaller then the gsr bar so i dont think it'd be worth the hastle for you..

but i put i gsr rear sway bar on my 5thgen hatch and i think its the biggest handling improvement you can do

thats because you had no bar there to begin with....

sway bars are ok but they do some nasty stuff that doesn't make them Ideal.... but thats just my opinion...

remember the bigger the bar int rear the more over steer you'll get. The larger the bar in the front the more understeer you'll get ... and the exact opposite will happen if you go smaller...

i love the sway bar... totally stabalizes the car... i''ve been contemplating a purchase of the beaks itr kit... at the limits the car still does understeer, but i wonder if its possible to really eliminate that on a civic for the price of that kit i think its worth finding out

Punk come out to an autocross I'll show you a civic that doesn't understeer .... without the use of sway bars ...

see sway bars transfer wieght to the outside corner of the car in a turn... your producing oversteer with the rear bar (or getting closer to oversteer) by increaseing the wieght transfer between the inside rear and out side rear...

same for the front only this increases understeer.... by transfering more wieght to the outside using these bars it can in fact slow you done the inside front tire begins to lift from the rear sway bar ...and when that happens corner exit speeds drop due to spinning the inside front tire. basically with the rear sway bar your creating oversteer by reduceing the inside rear tire's contact patch to next to nothing (it'll always have one till that tire lifts) and you are reducing the contact patch of the inside front tire to next to nothing... (again untill it lifts it will still have a contact patch) at the same time your overloading the outside rear tire resulting in reduced grip.

anyways thats enough of my talk for now....

YES YES YES!!! front sway bars kick ***, but then you gotta bump the size of the rear one too!!

I use a 26 mm front and 22 mm rear, but a stock Si bar is 23 mm front and 14 mm rear.

and Punk, the SiR and GSR bars are the same 14 mm diameter, but with diff't endlink configurations, that's all. I've had both...

I've had them side by side, and I interchanged the bushings and d-brackets, they are the same size.

Speaking of rear sway bars, does anybody got a spare driver side endlink that I could buy from you? I need it for my 98 Si cuz the one I have is broken (mine is an SiR 13mm rear sway). Thanks guys.

my secert is driving style combined with Tire pressure combined with what most people over look and thats Shock settings.. I have tokico Illumina shocks and use a setting of 2 int he front and 5 in the rear...

and thats basically it... I wrote a long thing in a PM to someone about suspension tuning....

my thought on all tuning has been start from the outside and work in... so in suspenion that would be Tires, then shocks, then springs then bushings then add bars.... by thats just my personal theory
