Sway Bars

Hi guys,

I am planning on dropping my car with H & R race springs (approx 2.5") in about a month because my civic looks like a rally car. I suspect that my car was lowered before I bought it and they put in the wrong springs because the wheel gap is just ridiculous. Anyways, getting back to my question ... do you guys think that I would need sway bars? One of my pet peeves is how my car sways alot or do you think that lowering it would be enough?

P.S. Which type of sway bar is best and how much would it cost?

Skunk2 and Suspension Techniques are options I'd consider.

Well, you dont really need a sway bar, unless you really just want to getr rid of all the roll when turning. Lowering your car wont do anything to reduces the sway. Skunk2 sway bars are about $300.... you may want to consider using a ITR rear sway bar, but ull probably need the LCA's to go with it. As for the best one, i dno, maybe comptech, its really good i hear, and its adjustable. however its $$$$

will stiffer springs reduce rolls in cornering?
or is that a combination of springs and the sway bars?

i just like less roll when i'm switching lanes etc at higher speeds... don't like that rocking feeling, like i'm on a boat

both sway bars and stiffer springs will reduce body roll. imo, the sway bar is more effective and "smarter" cause it uses the inside springs to stiffen the outside springs during a turn and then it's "not there" during straight lines. however swaybars cannot lower the car's CG like springs can. so I would assess my options this way:
for ride quality, better roll resistance: sway bars
for lower CG, no extra weight: springs
hope this helps. :)

Jef bro just buy the springs, same ones you had on your other ride, and you don't need no name brand BS sway bars man, for wut you need any thing metal would do the job. Spend about a bills at speedtech and you can get the front upper and the back lower and your car will be as tight as a virgin man, trust me, i had it on my car and it was mint, you can corner like a mad man and it'll be fine no sways or nething.

CiViC_GQ - i think what you are refering to is strut bar (tower bar) and lower arm bar. and what jefe wants is anti-roll bar (sway bar).

tower bar strengthen up the car rigidity-wise, it does not keep the car flat when cornering, that's the job of anti-roll bar (sway bar).

jefe - if you haven't lowered your ride already, do that first and see if you are satisfy with the body roll. dropping the car does help to a certain degree since you have a lower CG. and if you still want a flatter cornering, then get an anti-roll bar. and like Bad Black Si said, you can go with a ITR bar, i don't know if you need a LCA since i don't know what year is your civic, if you have a 96+ civic, then you can do without the LCA. one thing about the ITR or any other anti-roll bar though, the ITR and any other bar that is thicker than 21mm, you should definitely consider a reinforcement kit since the any civic subframe is too thin for a thick rear anti-roll bar. one last thing to keep in mind, the thicker the rear anti-roll bar, the easier it is to loose the rear end, so instead of understeer, you'll get oversteer.

hope this help and if you need any more info, let me know. i have plans on puttiing an ITR bar in the next few weeks if $$ is ok then.

Oh okay okay, sory my bad, your right i guess, well in that case Jef i can look into getting you a set of Suspension Techniques wutever bar for the whole underneath of your car for a good price. A friend of mine driving your car was selling his a while back but i know he never ended up selling it i'll see if he still has it and i'll ring you up about it.

p.s. Did you pick the skirts????
