Swaping motor & tranny is it worth it?

i have a 90 dx auto. im planing on purchacing a doner 5 spd and swaping the motor and tranny or even just the tranny anyone know how much im gonna be paying if i got this done at a shop? which would be cheaper ?.. :shower:

tough call.... it all depends on what kinda shape the body is in. I would have to say it's not worth it though. if you supply the engine/tranny/ECU of the same OBD, I guess about $400-500 labour/materials would be reasonable.

body is in pretty decent shape id have to say for its years. I actaully got this from first owner which was babied from day 1 the tranny is having problems at the moment tho and ive always wanted a 5 spd so im really considering doing this swap but i dont wanna be dishing out more than 4 bills? .... im actually having more problems finding the parts or the doner car with my price range. i actually still dont know how these parts are gonna come by, i have all these links and sites on tranny swaps and the things i will need to do so, but i have NO clue on how these parts look like or even work :banghead:

go to a pick-it-yourself junk yard and snatch up the tranny, cable, pedal box, flywheel, starter, and ECU from there. get a cheap ebay exedy clutch and bearing kit.

if your tranny is having problems, might I recommend to check for fluid leaks and check the fluid level. mine was slipping and hunting for gears, turned out I had low fluid due to a leak in the hose that leads to the rad (for cooling).
