swaping engines

how many mechanics actually look at the engine code. I mean sure a smart one would know that engine wasn't offered in that car in 98, but wouldn't know to check the date casting on the head, which isn't visible with the stock exhaust manifold's heat shield on. Most, unless honda-wise, wouldn't even know where the engine code is to check. So you could actually tell them that you have a gsr (b18c) in your car so they test it as a hot rod. For whatever reason JDM b16a's seem to have problems passing emissions. Plus if your performing drive cleans somewhere its not likely you are the most experienced mechanic. Hell, i did drive cleans, and am drive clean certified, at a saturn dealership and technically i was the car detailer not a mechanic.
I have a 93 b16 in a 95 civic and i passed emissions.
But my car is obd1 and my engine is obd1.
I guess you would need b-series engine mounts, 94 and up integra axels, you can use your wiring harness as long as you get an obd2 b16 ecu, which i do recommend rather than eliminating an o2 sensor (to convert to obd1) you will however need to wire up the distributor b/c the obd1 (the engine u would be using is obd1) plug on the dizzy won't fit (seeing as its 1 plug vs the obd2's 2 plug) the wiring harness. Actually maybe it would be easier for you to get an obd1 harness that way the obd1 ecu and dizzy you get with the b16 swap would plug right in.
Putting an obd1 engine in an obd2 car is however illegal, but its not that much work. It would be much easier and less of a PITA to use an obd2 b16.

i have a really good mechanic that would be able to set up something up forme. I know that there was a commment a made about what i need but if someone could list what i need a little more clear so i know what i am actually looking for and needing to buy to put this engine in. The engine for sure is a b16a and has a transmission on it that fits on to a 90 civic hatchback. What do you suggest?

well i have a b16 lying around with low km's on it and i just blew the engine i have in the car right now so wanted to make this as cheap as possible but also gain some HP in the process. My mechanic doesn't know all the connersions to the different engines. THe engine i have is an older engine but its still alot faster then what i have running in there right now! Nothing! So would i be better to sell it and buy another engine or do the conversion?
