swap question which is better

ok my friend has a 93 civic dx coupe his in the process of puttin in an engine the dx is all facked anyways doesnt want to go to crazy so its either a b16 or a b18b on the engines only mods will prob be an intake n exhaust which is the better engine and will run a better track time

it depends what your friend wants

b16a2 has 158@7600 for hp and 112@7000 for torque

b18b has 142@6300 for hp and 127@5200 for torque


why not try the b20 thing... there has been lots of threads about that swap lately... its a fairly cheap one too

an interesting swap I encountered today was a tranny from a d16y7 attached to a d16z6 ..... really was interesting .... but that was my friend that lives across the street.....interesting combination ... not sure if I like it yet

or maybe put on a vtec head... that would be the cheapest way to get power...

I was under the impression that a JDM b16a2 had 168 HP and the one from Canada/U.S.A had 160?

which is the better one ?my friend has the a2 it runs hard does a 14.6 in a 93 hatch

i got that 158 from the engine guide on this site.... it says usdm b16a2 158 hp.... jdm b16a 168 hp

yeah the JDM one puts out a little more power due to the higher compression
