swap info for 95 CX

I will be installing a Si motor into my car in the coming future and wanted to learn has much as possible now before I actually do it. I've searched a lot of sites already but have not found much usefull information.

I will be installing the d16z6, my main concern is with the wiring. since the new motor has VTEC will this need to be wired to the ecu? Are there any other things that need to be wired?

I purchased a complete swap including the wire harness that's on the motor now do I just disconnect all the connections, swap motors then reattach the plugs again.

If anybody has any input please share, Thanks

This is a complete swap with all mounts, axles, ecu etc.

I'm not sure where i'll be doing it yet but I fiqured since it's a direct bolt in swap I'd try it.

That's my biggest concern!! I'm hoping the guy I'm buying the motor from might let me use his garage since it has a cool hoist and air tools. Jamie

I just want to gather as much info as I can.

Won't the Si engine harness just pluga nd play with mine? Will I need to run VTEC wires since they'll already be on the engine harness? I don't know

Thanks for the offer but instead of getting a bseries motor I went with a full repaint on the car.

My daily driver is a turbo and I love it so much that I'm gonna do a dseries turbo cause I wanna be a little different! I don't really require a lot of power since my car will only be driven 3 days max/week.

My daily driver is a 1989 Ford Probe GT

145 Hor. @4500 RPM
190 Tor. @ 3500 RPM

When I put the pedal down this thing moves and it's got 220 000 kms on it.

I want to try and get 160 whp outta the dseries and I'll be happy.

Question

wouldnt the mounts and axles be the same?I was thinking about putting a d16 in my 95 dx.It would be the cheapest and least headaches. Can you use the stock dx/cx tranny? How much approx would a motor/harness and ecu cost.what about a mini me conversion is it easier just to go with a complete motor

yeah the mounts are identical.. cx trannies are strong trannies for what they are....but cost wise not much at all for cx dx si motors and misc parts...ecu drive shafts ..and so on...because everyone has one sitting around from a motor swap...so very easy to find and cheap..but even on b seris swap mounting the motor in a eg civic is no problem....i have 2 gsr mounts and the passenger side mount is a custom mount..u can pick up whole set ups for a couple hundred bucks..if u need this sort of stuff i can prolly get for u no problem...

You can pick up a d16z6 swap cheap. I paid $600 for my swap with only 85 K on it.

This swap is pretty simple.. Everything will pretty much plug right in..

I think your car is already wired for vtec but just needs it.. By that i mean the harness that runs through the firewall into the ecu. Do a little research and find out.. otherwise your gonna have to run one extra wire in through the firewall to the ecu clip. I'm doing an h22 and that is a biatch with right hand drive, more sensors and diff colors.

You'll need the si ecu for vtec though.. plug that straight in to your existing clip with your extra wire in the right pin.. You can get the wiring layout for the z6 online. compare to yours and find the vtec solenoid.

The engine will drop right in.. all the hoses will fit perfect.. heater core in and out. rad hoses, fuel line, throttle cable and cruise cable.. it's all exact fit cuz the engine your putting in is same size/fit.

Only thing you have to do is make sure you know where everything goes!!! That is the most important part.. get masking tape and label everything..

I don't think the z6 has proper engine lift points.. your going to have to customize for that. Try to find or put bolts into the block and use them for hoisting.. You'll need an engine stabilizer to keep it straight though.

PM ME if you need any more info.. exact details,etc..

Cablerat..

That was really my only concern. I was hoping to find out if the wire harness that runs through the fire wall was the same as the Si that way I don't have to run the VTEC wire.

Thanks for all the info guys

it's easy to run the wire.. there's a oval shaped rubber near the existing harness. pull that off, you'll see foam behind it.. run it down that
