suspension question
i want to get adjustable shoks, but i have no idea what stiff and soft mean, does a stiff ride mean that it will be bumpy?

a cadillac rides soft, a civic rides stiff. Thats the only way i can explain lol

Are you buying aftermarket springs with the shocks? If you arent then there really is no point. An adjustible shock helps control spring movement. Lets say you have coilovers, very bouncy, without a adjustible shock on firm. The piston in the shock is travelling with less resistance. you firm up the shock giving more resistance the less bouncy it gets.
Now lets say you buy stiff springs and put your shocks to the stiff setting. Now you can corner like no tommorow because there is less movement BUT because everything is so stiff you feel every crack bump and rock on the road. Do your research find a balance which springs/shocks to buy this is a excellent forum for info and to buy good used parts cheap. i am not a professional i just type like one :) |
ye..im looking to do a 1.5-2.0" drop, so i figured id need shoks to accompany it...i dont mind the stock feeling though...i gess wll have to shop aroud or talk t shops bout ideal matches
