I have another car.... non-honda, and i have neuspeed sport springs, & Boge - which are like Bilsteins.. and they are just
fantastic.. not very hard at all, and not very low.
But not sure how it will be on Honda

right front - KYB AGX + SiR OEM spring
left front - Tokico Illumina + H&R race spring
right rear - Koni red + Eibach Sportline spring
left rear - Koni yellow + Progress spring
j/k
**** what you want the car to do... I want mine to be a land rocket. What is your budget is the 1st question you need to answer.

No Neuspeed on a Civic, thank you
I like Neuspeed parts, I seen a whole slew of them last night when we installed a SICK cam in my friend's Golf. They are nice looking bits. They just don't belong on a Civic.
1st of all, the Civic will have a go-cartish feel to it and will handle 30 times (scientifically speaking ) better than whatever VW you have.
H&R sport and Koni Yellow is what I'd buy for a daily driver, but if you are budget minded, then instead of Koni Yellow, you can do Tokico Illumina.

Dont really have a budget, but id like to stay under 2k...
I know what you mean......about the go-kart feel, i friend of mine has neuspeeds on a crx, but dont know what the shocks are....
The ride is just horrible, and very bouncy... my car is nowhere like that.. it does not bounce one bit.... as far handling goes...there is no way in hell that the crx handles better then my car.. maybe with diff shocks and springs.. but not that way.
Oh by the way... im not a v-dub lover, i just happened to buy one cause the price was good for the type of car... (scirocco 16v)
LOL.. I'm a jap man at heart -
But please feel free to recomend the suspension.. both as daily driver, or something more wild... thanks

one of two problems with your buddy's 'rex.
1. blown shocks and a poor poor front end (bushings, alignment, worn components)
2. car is too fawkin low or the springs were not installed right
No car is meant to be too low... susp components start to bind up and the car drives like mexican carriage.
I like your budget... that gives us something to work with!! Now, do you want full coilovers or do you prefer a shock/spring combo. Me, I like coilovers - you can adjust your height so that it's not too low and they are more compact so you can fit meatier tires in there if you so please. I personally run H&R coilovers and love them. Progress coilovers are also good, or maybe get into Tein. If you prefer a shock/spring combo, then H&R sport with the Koni Sport (yellow) is a drop-dead combo... throw some sway bars into the mix and it's good. Also, decide if you want swaybars early on so you can maybe get ITR rear lower control arms, in which case you have to buy shocks for an ITR instead of a Civic. So decide that early on.

great..... very detailed... I have heard that springs & shocks match would be H&R and Tokico or Koni... But i thought they were very pricey...... Any other coil-overs ? - But doesnt the ride become very stiff with coils..

I've found Eibachs sag pretty bad. My Saturn sagged about 3/4" on Eibach Prokit. And the ride is okay but the inital progressive part of the coil is too soft for my taste.
H&R give you a much more controlled ride.
coilovers... there are too many to list. And no, if anything the ride on coilovers is nicer than springs and shocks - the springs are much longer and better matched to the dampeners.

I can only suggest to try and get a ride in a car with various spring setups, you have to find what YOU like. I've done many many suspensions on my Civic, and a few on other cars... I had to try it to see if I liked it. However, no one at the time I was doing it was available to provide feedback since it was early on in the days of sport compact modding. Now, many ppl have various susps, so if you show up to some meets, see if anyone will give you a ride in their car.

I keep reading and hearing about the number one reason to stay away from Coilovers. It discouraging me from going that way - this reason being the necessity to corner balance the vehicle everytime you mess with the height.
Just like Doggie, I will be redoing my entire suspension this long weekend (woohoo!). I got an open budget but I wanna save some cash for other upgrades later. I keep reading about the Koni Yellow's & H&R so I set my mind to that unless someone can provide a GOOD reason to lean towards coilovers?
