Man thats nothing, I saw this intrepid once, and the wheel was almost sitting in the passenger seat. It cleaned whe whole front fender right out, pulled the axle right out of the transmission and all the suspension arms twisted like a peice of rubber. It was a scarry mess, total write off, lucky there was no passenger they would of likely lost a leg.

worst part guess where it happened... balljoint blew in a parking lot guy was doing about 10km/h... now just think if that happened on the highway

Lower ball joint..

Yanked the whole ****ing axle out too.

No tranny damage..

Luckily I had front left suspension bits at home.

Thanks Adam..

Replaced everything, changed the brakes on both sides, threw in a new axle, and got an alignment..

Drives better now than before..

That has more to do with Buddah I guess..

My right camber problem is gone too..

I think its time for a gsr brake swap.

camber problem was caused by a worn balljoint? hmm learn somthing new every day i didnt think they moved that much.

ball joints and tierods are a big saftey concern, that why we have certification process on used vehicles to avoid un necesary accidents

wow lucky you... I guess the honda design isnt as critical... those dumbass crysler engineers probably ****ed up the design hench the reason it did so much damage doing 10km/hr

another reason im a proud honda owner. you can feel safe in a big boat thats mechanically faulty, or u can feel safer in a small civic with the peice of mind that you wont end up with a steering knuckle on your lap if a ball joint blows out.

yah i guess most camber kits make the balljoint adjustable... but still to think a normal OEM joint can ware to the point of noticing camber problems...

a broken tie rod looks not as bad - but just as dangerous. When it lets go, that wheel will point in the direction of least resistnace... so most likely when you try to turn, it'll just go straight so it's super easy to lose control of the car.

many years ago I met this lady - she lost her leg when her caddy blew a tie rod end.

cars are nothing to **** around with guys, I know we take it for granted, but let's be serious. there is a lot of mass and a lot of speed involved.

PLEASE, rather than get JDM blinker fluid go spend your money on BASIC MAINTENANCE! Even with a car that passes safety no problem, I do my own inspections and usually end up replacing flex hoses, tie rod ends and brakes. For my winter beaters, it costs me a couple hundred bux, but I have peace of mind.

The killer is that this was a unexpected failure.

It was up on the hoist for oil last week..

I make a point check everytime.

No play at all on the tire shake test..

No noise when turning...

No pot holes recently..

Have you determined point of failure? I've never had a chance to inspect a fully collapsed ball joint?

I've always wanted to make custom tubular control arms with like... F250 HD balljoints for the stresses of racing (auto-x and touring) that would be sweet!

IM SO HAPPY FOR ONCE!!! anyways, i cut the bumpstops in half and the reason the left rear was clunking was because the top hat was missing one of the bushings...saturday = new inner/outer tie rods, lower ball joints, windshield...my car is actually gonna be a car again!
